The faire will feature author and small press booths in the morning and afternoon, an early evening reception, and then readings by vendors and featured authors. With book signings, raffle prizes, a flash writing contest, and more, it's sure to be a great time!

![Today's the day! S2: Small and Self-Publishing Faire opens tonight at Daydreamer Coffee (@daydreamercoffeepdx.) S2 organizer Ali Shaw stopped by the shop earlier this week and had the chance to grab a snap and a beverage treat. ☕
Our opening Friday night reception is 6–8 p.m. tonight. You can pop by for refreshments, a raffle, and of course readings! Local author and nationally renowned artist Stephen O'Donnell will cap off the night for us with readings from his books.
Come back tomorrow for the book faire and several readings running from 10 a.m.–4 p.m., including special guest readings from fantasy award winner Curtis Chen and poet and performer Nastashia Minto.

"I was educated at Pitzer College, Claremont, California, and the University of California, Berkeley, with a Master’s in folklore. My interest in developing the current history of Timberline began with my participation with Friends of Timberline. Starting in 1975, I volunteered on a committee to collect historical information about the lodge, have been active on the board of Friends, served as president, and continue as archivist. Through Friends, I coauthored the 1978 catalog about the lodge and updated the guidebook to the lodge through several editions. I've also prepared a photographic history of Timberline published by Arcadia Publishing and developed two audio tours of the lodge for the Mount Hood Territory. The current history was published in 2009 by Timber Press. I updated and reissued it in 2020 through Cascadian Publishing Company."

![Annabelle Dolidon, PhD, is a professor of French at Portland State University who specializes in post-World War II novels and short stories with a special interest in science fiction. She'll be reading at our Friday, April 5 event at 7:13 p.m.
Along with Tessa Sermet, Annabelle is the editor of "Continuum: French Science Fiction Short Stories" published by Ooligan Press (@ooliganpress) and available on April 9. "Continuum" features classic French science fiction short stories translated into English for the first time.
This unique collection of newly translated short stories offers a taste of classic and contemporary French science fiction to English-language readers. These stories cover a range of fascinating topics including simulated reality, speciesism, ecology, and transhumanism—all while exploring universal themes of belonging, death, and identity.

![Writer Jeff Stookey (@jeffstookey1923), author of the "Medicine for the Blues" trilogy, will be joining us as a reader at 6:36 p.m. during our Friday, April 5 event. Jeff is an expert on LGBTQ history and uses his rich research to color the world of his stories.
"Medicine for the Blues" is a trilogy of novels, a work of LGBTQ historical fiction that explores the complexities of gender and sexuality through the historical lens of the early 1920s. The Ku Klux Klan was growing in influence, the eugenics movement was passing human sterilization laws, illegal liquor was fueling corruption, and Freud was all the rage. Based on extensive period research, this trilogy tells a touching gay love story set against the dramatic backdrop of this influential era.

![Author and poetic memoirist Nastashia Minto (@shaminto09) will be joining S2 as a featured reader for our Saturday, April 6 event. She'll be reading at 3:30 p.m.
Nastashia Minto, author of "Naked: The Rhythm and Groove of It. The Depth and Length to It." and "A Body Tangled in Time A Tapestry of Self-Love and Shadow Work," is an African American born in South Georgia and raised there by her grandparents. Her life experiences led them to obtain an associate degree in occupational therapy and a bachelor’s degree in psychology. An eccentric, spiritual dream tender, she has been writing since she was nine years old. She’s found that her writing offers a way to help both herself and others. She is a 2021 recipient of the Tanne Foundation Award whose work has appeared in literary journals such as Nailed, Gobshite Quarterly, Portland Metrozine, SUSAN The Journal, Unchaste Anthology, Survivorlit, and Heron Clan VIII. She is a popular featured reader at literary events and schools throughout the Pacific Northwest. She has been featured on podcasts such as Feminist Book Club, Literary Speaking, and Beyond Well with Shelia Hamilton.

Once a Silicon Valley software engineer, Curtis C. Chen now writes fiction and runs puzzle games near Portland, Oregon. His debut novel Waypoint Kangaroo (a 2017 Locus Awards and Endeavour Award Finalist) is a science fiction thriller about a superpowered spy facing his toughest mission yet: vacation. The sequel, Kangaroo Too, lands our hero on the Moon to confront long-buried secrets.
